At the end of Northern Europe's longest avenue, in the historical landscape surrounding Ledreborg Castle, lies Herthadalen – beautifully hidden in the forest, in the heart of Skjoldungernes Land National Park. A house with a thatched roof and soul, where people have met since 1788 to share stories and moments. From folk festivals and constitution meetings in Grundtvig's time – to weddings, anniversaries and large company parties in more recent times.
We took over the premises in 2013 and have since renovated, refurbished and extended. Today, Herthadalen stands as a place where history lives on, and people continue to gather to celebrate life's moments. Everything from intimate gatherings to grand parties.
Herthadalen has a total of 6 different function rooms with space for 10 to 130 guests – and as an event partner at Ledreborg Estate, we also run Slotsladen, a historic venue with space up to 400 guests.
As is tradition, we open the restaurant doors on special occasions, such as Easter, Summer Lunch, Morten's Eve, and White Christmas & Light Festival. A unique spot right in the middle of the forest – yet only 30 minutes from Copenhagen with easy access via the main roads.

Late summer at Herthadalen is some of the absolute most beautiful. The forest is in full bloom, we are harvesting berries in the garden for all we are worth & the entire forest is filled with the chirping of singing birds.
It is that time of year when the party season is at its peak, and the forest is showing off in its vibrant green splendour. A multitude of colourful parties are being held; weddings, milestone birthdays, and wedding anniversaries.
When does the restaurant open again? From August to October, the forest will be filled with colourful parties at weekends, which is why we will not reopen the restaurant until 10 November for St Martin's Eve. From mid-November, we are opening our doors to “White Christmas & Festival of Lights” – and, true to tradition, we will round off the year with a takeaway New Year's menu.

“My better half has for several years wished to celebrate her 30th birthday at Herthadalen, and that wish was realised here three weeks ago.

At Herthadalen & Ledreborg, we put people first. Our guests' experiences are our primary focus, and we are passionate about creating a place with room for presence, tranquility, and a connection to the earth.
A place with personal service and a present atmosphere, as well as an associated forest kitchen, where the seasons and quality are central. We call it ”Men and Meals.
Our kitchen follows nature and the changing seasons, with roots in the surrounding forest and the local producers of the area. We cherish good craftsmanship and are inspired by what we find on our doorstep – from herbs in the garden to fresh vegetables, fruit, and berries.
The aim is to create a place where people and meals meet in community – and to provide the setting for life’s great celebrations: from the small moments of everyday life to life’s major events.

Together with other companies, you can enjoy a pleasant day with Christmas activities, mulled wine and Æbleskiver, horse-drawn carriage rides, a pick-your-own Christmas tree, and lots of Christmas spirit in the old castle barns – a cosy way to round off the year with colleagues.

As is tradition, the restaurant at Herthadalen is open at selected times throughout the year – including for Summer Restaurant and during holidays such as Easter, St. Martin's Eve, and White Christmas & Light Festival.
